🐾 Special Word for Coming When Called (Recall)

  • This week’s goal is teaching your puppy a special word for recall (coming when called)

  • You can use common words like “come” or “here,” but a brand-new word works best

  • A fresh word helps avoid confusion and makes recall more exciting for your puppy

  • Choose something your puppy absolutely LOVES as a reward (high-value treat)

  • Say the special word, then immediately give the special treat

  • Repeat this several times so your puppy builds a strong positive association

  • The goal is for your puppy to LOVE hearing the word and run to you happily

  • Use something new and extra special — not a treat they get every day

  • Be creative and make it fun and unique to your puppy

Examples of Special Recall Words:

  • Cheese

  • Pickle

  • Cocktail

  • Coffee

  • Home Run

  • Unique words help prevent multiple puppies from responding at once (like when you say “treat”)
