It is the responsibility of What A Good Dog to ensure the safety and health of your pet in all aspects of our care. Our responsibility includes administering prescription and non-prescription medications/supplements to your pet(s). While we have veterinary technicians on staff, other non-licensed staff administer medications. What A Good Dog has policies and procedures for the safe administration of medications/supplements. Similar to the administration of medications in human health care settings, our procedure includes:

What A Good Dog reserves the right to question any request if it is thought to compromise the safety of either your pet in our care or our staff. Please ask a staff member if you have any questions.

If a medication is given on an as-needed basis, please include all of the information in #'s 1-5 and be specific in the "notes" section what signs/symptoms your pet may exhibit to warrant administration of the medication.

What A Good Dog requires that all prescription medication, over the counter medication and supplements be in or accompanied by the original bottle with original label and directions. Any change in the administration instruction from what is printed on the bottle must be accompanied by written confirmation from your veterinarian. Instructions for the administration of non-prescription supplements should be provided with feeding instructions.
