What A Good Dog's Veterinary Approved Response to Diarrhea/Vomiting
Two of the most common health problems in dogs, particularly in dogs boarding in kennels, are diarrhea and vomiting. The excitement of being in the kennel or the stress of being away from home can cause a dog to have loose stools or to have an upset stomach even upon returning home. Any dog who shows signs of a change in their health is closely monitored by our staff. WAGD will assess for signs of more serious causes and any progression of symptoms that could result in a situation needing veterinary attention. While our policy is to contat an owner with any changes in health status, we believe with minor symptoms of diarrhea and vomiting, we can immediately implement our protocols in an effort to thwart any progression of symptoms.
Diarrhea (non-bloody): Feed bland diety (Chicken and Rice), add probiotic to food (Forti Flora or Nutramax Proviable)
Vomiting: Withhold food and water for 4-6 hrs., Administer Pepcid AC. reintroduce small amounts of water after 4 hrs. and, if tolerated reintroduce small amounts of dood every 2-4 hrs. If water and food are tolerated with no additional vomiting, wean back to regular feeding over 24 hrs.
If you wish to bring the following you may: Treats, Safe Toys (No raw hides or bully sticks) preferably 2-4 toys, T-Shirt or small towel with your scent on it, Bedding (a kuranada bed is provided for each pet), Brush (if you elect this service), Coat for cold weather

Thank you!
